Learn how to make easy and cute wrapping paper for your Christmas gifts this holiday season!
DIY Gingerbread Wrapping Paper

Every Christmas season I make homemade cards for friends and loved ones. One year I decided to sell my cards and haven't stopped since! One of my favourite things about making holiday cards is the packaging. Receiving a well wrapped present is so exciting and special. This year I decided to make my own wrapping paper for packaging my cards. Today I'll give you step by step instructions on how to make this budget friendly wrapping paper. Not only will it impress your loved ones, it will also make them feel extra special, which they are!
Every step is included and easy to follow. It doesn't matter if you're "crafty" or not. You wouldn't believe how much I hear this. Believe me YOU ARE.
Tip #1 - Have all your materials out and ready.
Pick a work space (dinner table, kitchen counter or a desk) and get all your materials out. Nothing is worse than when you start a craft and forget your tape or scissors. Not to mention looking for your materials in the middle of a craft can be frustrating. I highly recommend gathering all your materials beforehand in order to reduce interruptions or frustrations.
Tip #2 - Have fun! Perfect doesn't exist.
Whether you are new to crafting or experienced, set aside the "it has to be perfect" mentality. Nobody is perfect and neither is crafting. In crafting there is a lot of beauty in the imperfections so just go with the flow! Your effort will be good enough if you just try. That is all that matters!
" In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways and they're still beautiful." - Alice Walker
Tip #3 - Make it YOU!
When creating anything, I try to always think of what or who inspires me. Creating with intention helps and will also bring authenticity to your work of art.
Tip #4 - Use what you have!
I'm all about using what you already have to make your crafts. Try to amaze yourself and see what you come up with and bring versatility to your creations.
Tip #5 - You did it and it looks great!
Take a couple minutes to add finishing details to your gingerbread home. This can look like little dots randomly placed or a loved ones name. These little details will personalize your wrapping paper and make it unique.
Keep the creative spark alive!
Remember to always enjoy what you are making! We learn the most from our trials and errors. Once you make your own wrapping paper you'll want to create more! The more you craft the more your creativity unravels.
Gingerbread House Wrappring Paper: Step by Step Instructions
Materials:
Postal Wrapping Paper (can be purchased at dollarama, dollartree or at your local post office)
Ruler
Pencil
Glue Stick
Scissors
Hole Puncher
Cutting Mat
Xacto Knife
Tape
White Paint/Chalk Marker or Paint Markers

Step 1:
Centre your gift in the middle of your postal wrapping paper. Measure your postal wrapping paper according to the size of your gift and and cut using your ruler and xacto knife.

Step 2:
Your wrapping paper should meet in the middle of your gift once folded. Tape at the centre.

Step 3:
Begin to tuck in the sides of your paper and fold to create a triangle shape. When you fold, tuck in the paper as much as you can to create the tip of your house. Once you have the tip of your house, tape at the fold and glue the inner part of your triangle so that it doesnt open. Tuck and fold the bottom of your house using the same process but without creating the tip.

Step 4:
Begin to outline your gingerbread house using your ruler to help you get even and straight lines.
Step 5:
Begin to decorate your gingerbread house. There is not right or wrong with this step. Your gingerbread house can take on many forms.
Step 6: Final Touch
You can add a ribbon or a gift tag to add that personal touch to your gift. I made a hole with my hole puncher and used some red, green and white string to attach the tag. Finsihed it off with a bow.
